Daisetsuzan National Park
Rich in unspoilt natural beauty is the Daisetsuzan National Park. Located at the centre of Hokkaido and the largest national park in Japan, Daisetsuzan covers quite a large area. A big snow valley and snow field remains on the upper slopes even in summer, and rare alpine flora form a beautiful field of wildflowers that covers much of the mountain slopes. The lower slopes of the mountain range are populated by pine needle forests. The winter environment is not unlike polar conditions and as a result, a unique habitat supporting wildlife peculiar to this area has evolved.
Jozankei Hot Spring
30 kilometres upstream from Sapporo on the Toyohira River, the Jozankei hot spring is in a gorge on the upper reaches of the river. The Jozankei hot spring has a long and distinguished history of more than 130 years. It's called the relaxation area of Sapporo's outskirts and is attractively beautiful in all seasons, such as fresh deep-green leaves, vivid red leaves in fall, and snow covered valleys.
