Himeji Castle
Himeji Castle, also called Shirasagijo due to its white outer walls, is the best preserved castle in all of Japan. It serves as a classic example of Japanese castle architecture, having been designated a national treasure in 1931. Incorporating both strategic design as well as a very conscious awareness of space, it functions as a military command, a center for political life, and as a monument to the glories of an earlier age.
Hiroshima - Peace Park
Hiroshima was destroyed by a single atomic bomb in 1945. It was said that the city would be bare of flora for seventy years. But with the citizens' sustained efforts, and material and moral support at home and a broad, the city was restored to life. Looking at the city today, it is difficult to imagine the devastation of 1945.

At the heart of this regional center of commerce and culture loes Peace Memorial Park, with facilities for looking back to its awesome atomic past. The Park is it dotted with many monuments memorializing the bomb's victims.

Across the river, northeast of the park, stands the A-bomb Dome, a stark reminder of August 1945.

Pope John Paul II, on his February 1981 visit here, said that to remember Hiroshima is to commit oneself to the fucially meaningful if you can hear the silent voices of those memorialized in Peace Park.

Tottori Sand Dunes
Stretching 2km from South to North, 16km from East to West and with a maximum atitude of 90m, Tottori Sand Dune is the largest dune in Japan. It is said that the history of Tottori sand dune can be traced back to 100,000 years. The sands carried by Sendai river which has its source in the Chuugoku mountainous region and the sands carried by the coastward current of Japan sea have been gathered by the strength of winds and waves, and they have gradually accumulated over a long period of time. As a result, these grand sand dunes which are a great art created by nature have formed.

Wind and dunes make beautiful patterns.....a fantasy of wind and dunes, "wind ripples" is called "fumon". These wind ripples are very beautiful especially early in the morning or in the evening.
