Central Honshu inc Nagoya

The attractions in Central Honshu are a definate must see for tourists in this area. Firstly there is the site of the 1998 Winter Olympics, Nagano, also in this area of the mountains the lava landscapes at Onioshidashien are spectacular. Of all the skiing areas the village of Nozawa Onsen would hold the best slopes and hot springs. In Togakushi ancient shrines are surrounded by spiritual forests, and a Ninja warrior museum.

While the urbanized southern coast is generally passed through quickly, Nagoya's Tokugawa Art Museum is worth a visit, and the city is the main access point for the attractive castle-town of Inuyama. Inuyama is also close to the stunning Meiji Mura, a vast outdoor museum of turn-of-the-century architecture.
